Set up Google Alerts so you are alerted when your search term (your name, company name, product name etc.) gets a new mention on a website, in an article, blog post or forums. You should also build in monitoring into your daily routine – checking for mentions on social media and in your key media, for example, and doing an old-fashioned Internet search.
In addition to Google Alerts, there are lots of free tools you can use monitor what is being said about you on social media. I use Hootsuite and Tweetdeck (free versions) and here’s how to do a search on Twitter. You can also search via #hashtags.
